> one of the most important mistakes Fours make is to equate themselves with their feelings. the fallacy is that to understand themselves they must understand their feelings, particularly their negative ones, before acting

lmao felt

recently i decided it is futile to pursue self understanding the way i was doing it. you dont need to know why sth is good for you, just that it is.

someone once told me that emotions *are* motivation, and that all motivation for doing anything comes from some sort of emotion, so, yes, feelings are for doing stuff

this is so good !! i too am a huge fan of the enneagram for the same reason (im 5w4), and have recently been reflecting on / trying to make concerted efforts to get out of my mind and let the internal make contact with the outside world (“unlocking new parts of my mind felt so satisfying that i assumed exploring my inner world must be the most important thing in life?“ is so true.) only spending time on things that could be life changing / are high stakes is interesting, I’m curious whether this has had any impact on your ability to self regulate or if it’s led to more feelings of stress / anxiety. I’m assuming that this eliminates most situations that are meant to be relaxing, like eating with friends or mindless games.

I’m assuming that this eliminates most situations that are meant to be relaxing » hmm not really! it's not like "i need to be doing a life-changing thing all the time", more like "the thing i'm doing should be tied to a goal i care about"
