nice essay :) i'm in the opposite place right now where, after a lifetime of temporary friendships, i'm purposefully trying to build (platonic) relationships with more longevity - i want to owe people things and i want them to owe me things too! i want the pleasure of helping someone grow and also being a part of the "other side" of that growth!
mm i think for me it’s less abt rigid rules and more abt: how easy is it to do the activity live / spontaneously? writing feels inherently more reflective / post-hoc rather than in the moment (though im sure there are other ways to write as well)
I really like routines, when I get back from vacation I get really excited about seeing my cats and my friends and laying in my bed. I revel in being a regular at places and being recognized or being able to say “I’ll have my usual,” which can only happen because of the routines. When I go back to places I lived in before, the nostalgia usually comes from memories of the routines I used to have but grew out of or away from.
and you said you weren't building models. liar!

i have never felt more 4 than while reading this
also curiously i find writing to be much harder to do with rigid rules than visual arts

“my best work seems to emerge only when i have left myself behind” -> based
oh. I thought the post was going to be: a series of archetypes and predictions
