a few additional hypotheses for why asia is more fashionable: 1) they are more online and thus the standard for looking beautiful/hip is higher (the beauty filters for example are also more extreme), 2) uniform demographics incentivizes differentiation via fashion, 3) i think the biggest difference is with men, ie i think it’s less “gay” to be fashionable in asia as a man than in the usa xd, 4) maybe they seem fashionable because it’s relatively more novel to us? (for example i found people in korea to be very fashionable but upon closer examination mostly everyone dressed the same way, so maybe i would find this to be less fashionable after a while)
do you know much about taipei's history in relation to japan and japanese colonization? a lot of old guard taiwanese people very much respect japan / speak the language and it's why modern taipei looks so like japan + there's still a lingering respect while mainland china has more 'hatred' of japan
I don't think language models are a good way to determine what most people enjoy from traveling. Those all, bar the piano since I am not a pianist, seem like things I would enjoy, and it seems to me that asking AI about such things beforehand is a waste of time since of course what each person enjoys the most will vary and if you want to get the content an AI will give you it would suffice to find what someone had already written up on "Places to visit in Taipei" or whatever.
idk if i agree? the "places to visit in taipei" pieces are not personalized whereas for chat recommendations i would provide examples of things i liked / places i enjoyed visiting in the past
