Insomnia plus anxiety sucks—I've definitely been there. I have arrhythmia so I also feel the pain of being too attuned to one's apparent heart problems and the uncertainty that brings. I feel like it's a vicious cycle where, if you experience sleep issues, you naturally will research those issues to learn more, meanwhile every article out there emphasizes the importance of sleep and how awful and terrible it is if you don't get proper rest. Then you're even more anxious about not falling asleep, and suddenly there's no way you're ever going to get to bed at this rate.
I think reducing your obligations is a very nice and kind thing to do for yourself, and I hope your sleep issues get better!
